Vijayawada: Former Speaker Kodela Siva Prasada Rao reportedly admitted to the police of having brought expensive furniture from the Assembly of undivided Andhra Pradesh to his residence in Sattenapalli.

The former speaker is said to have acknowledged to the Guntur police of having shifted expensive items of furniture from the Assembly premises to his home. It was reported earlier that some items of furniture and computers had gone missing during the division of assets as part of bifurcation of the state.

The issue came to light when the state Assembly Secretary filed a complaint with the Guntur police a few days ago. The Assembly Secretary had also reportedly sent notices to the former speaker on unauthorised shifting of furniture to his house.

Mr Rao reportedly did not respond to these notices. When the police approached the former speaker, he said that the reply he had written to officials may not have reached them. He told the police that he was ready to return the items of furniture or pay for them if an amount was specified.
