Hyderabad: Cop donates blood, dons many hats
On a daily basis, I see a lot of people who meet with accidents and are in need of blood.
Hyderabad: As soon as a traffic inspector on duty came to know that a police constable was in urgent need of blood, he sought permission from higher officials and donated blood. Earlier, he had donated blood 21 times.
Traffic inspector Nagamallu is well-known for his songs that deals with various issues confronted by the police and was successful in bringing awareness among the public. Sharing one of his experiences with this newspaper he said, during the Sub Inspector training in 2010, I got to know that one of my colleague’s father was in need of blood. Since no one came forward to donate the blood. We were in our training programme then and our daily schedule was very hectic with physical exercises like 5k and 3k running. However I donated the blood”. Nagamallu who is working at LB Nagar Traffic police station said, “I first donated my blood in the year 2001 during my Intermediate. One person from our village while ploughing the field using a tractor accidently came under its wheels. He was immediately rushed to our area hospital and I came to know about the accident and his serious blood loss. I immediately rushed to hospital and donated blood.
“It gives me personal satisfaction, as I am working as a traffic cop. On a daily basis, I see a lot of people who meet with accidents and are in need of blood. I do first aid for the accident victims. In 70 per cent of the accidents, people die due to heavy bleeding, Nagamallu said.
