Thiruvananthapuram: Vehicle documents in digi-locker to be valid
Documents like driving licence, registration certificate and insurance policy could be stored in the app.
Thiruvananthapuram: The state police has decided to consider the digital format of documents of vehicles kept in digi-locker as valid so that motorists can be spared of the need to carry the documents in the vehicles.
The documents in the mParivahan digi-locker application recently launched by the centre would be considered as valid. State police chief Loknath Behera has issued a directive in this regard to all police officers, a statement from the police information centre said.
Documents like driving licence, registration certificate and insurance policy could be stored in the app. In case any document has to be seized by the police during vehicle checking, instead of physically seizing the document, the police can make an entry in that regard on the app, said the statement.
In case the digital copy of driving licence or registration certificates could not be retrieved from the app, there is also a provision to scan the physical copies and store them in digi-locker with digital signature. tmParivahan app also offers a host of transport -related services and information.The app would help the motorists avoid the risk of physical copies of documents being lost.
