Bengaluru: A quarry worker was seriously injured after a leaking LPG cylinder exploded in his house in Kodagalahatti , Chikjala police station limits Friday morning.
Pavan Kumar of Bihar, who works in a stone quarry in the city, shared the house with his friends, but was home alone when the cylinder exploded. The impact of the explosion was such that walls of the neighbouring buildings developed cracks and their window panes were shattered
According to the Chikjala police, the incident took place at around 8 am Friday morning. Neighbours were left shaken on hearing the loud explosion and several panicked as rumours began to spread of a bomb blast.
The Chikjala police and fire and emergency personnel rushed to the spot and put out the fire. While initially there was confusion about what had caused the explosion, the police later said an LPG leak triggered the explosion after Pavan lit the gas stove to make coffee.
He managed to get out alive by running out of the house immediately after the explosion. "Pavan was alone in the house as the rest of the tenants had left for work. Thankfully no casualties were reported and no major damage was caused," the police said.
A case has been registered in the Chikjala police station and the investigation is on
