Coimbatore: 4 beat youth to death, arrested
Despite treatment, the youth died.
COIMBATORE: At least four persons have been held in connection with assaulting a youth to death in a Tasmac bar here in the city.
According to police, a 25-year-old youth had gone to a Tasmac bar near Gandhipuram Nehru Street on the night of September 15.
In an inebriated condition, the youth had demanded a cigarette in the bar, and the bar attender had demanded double the amount for the cigarette, which resulted in a quarrel between the youth and the attender.
Following this, a heated verbal quarrel erupted, and four persons including the bar manager, identified as Gowtham (26), and attenders Giri (26), Babu (46) and Vinodh (26), assaulted the youth badly and threw him out of the bar.
Passersby, seeing his bad condition, rushed him to the Coimbatore Medical College Hospital (CMCH). Despite treatment, the youth died.
Following the post-mortem report, police took the four Tasmac bar workers under custody and are investigating.
