THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Top state and district functionaries of the CPM will attend brainstorming sessions on Marxism-Leninism, organisational issues, strategy to counter the fascist onslaught, major socio, economic and current political issues confronting the state and the nation at a seven-day programme beginning at the EMS Academy here from September 24.

The session will be attended by 10 to 15 party top functionaries from each of the 14 districts. CPM general secretary Sitaram Yechury, polit bureau members Prakash Karat, Brinda Karat, S. Ramachandran Pillai, Pinarayi Vijayan along with other leaders will lead the sessions.

The party functionaries taking part in the classes at Academy will hold similar programmes at the district level for area, local and branch committee members.

The special schooling is aimed at equipping the CPM leaders and cadres politically, organisationally and ideologically to effectively deal with fresh challenges. This has also been necessitated because of the recent electoral rout and the offensive of political right-wing.

The objective of the programme is also to create party teachers in each area committee who will train cadre at the grassroots level.

A special curriculum has been prepared for the schooling considering the current political situation in the country.

The party believes that clarity on ideological and political issues was important for the cadre to overcome demoralisation that has set in after electoral debacle.

One of the thrust areas of party schooling would be strengthening ideological campaigns against communal forces. The cadre will equipped to  effectively counter the BJP brand of nationalism and communal narrative and combat communalism, party sources said.
