Goa is now the main source of narcotics

Hyderabad: Goa has become the main source of drugs for Hyderabadi junkies. Earlier, most of the peddlers in Hyderabad were part of drug rings and many were foreigners.
The trend has now changed and now youths, including students, have started smuggling drugs to Hyderabad from Goa. They visit Goa at least twice a month and bring drugs like LSD, Ecstasy, Hashish, and sometimes even Cocaine.
Police has been struggling to find out the modus operandi of these new peddlers.
One young peddler, who was arrested in 2015, told DC about the modus operandi they use. He claims that he does not sell drugs anymore.
“I went to Goa for the first time in 2013 with two of my friends. We had planned to visit the beaches in four days. On the second day of our tour, we went to Vagator beach. We met a guy, who was renting bikes to tourists and he offered us Hashish. That was the first drug I purchased in Goa and that was for my use”" said the 24-year-old youth.
“We went to Goa again and met our contact for Hashish and told him we wanted more so that we could take it to Hyderabad for our friends. He gave us the quantity we wanted and we sold half of it in the city for double the price. Next time, I went alone to Goa and met my contact again who told me that he can arrange LSD and Ecstasy for me. After fixing a commission, he introduced me to a French national. I got a dozen LSD stamps the day I was leaving Goa. I kept it inside a book and came back to Hyderabad in a bus," said the youth.
From then onwards, the youth used to visit Goa at least twice a month, except during the monsoon. “I had a good base of customers in Hyderabad, and I used to travel alone by bus and bring the drugs till I was caught.” I have not purchased Cocaine but I knew sources who could give me Cocaine," he said.
"I travelled alone to avoid the risk of being caught by cops. After a point, I could not trust even my friends. But, I was tipped off to police by one of my customers and I was arrested," he said adding that he does not want to sell drugs again. He is now out on bail and have to appear before the police when required. "I am now trying to find a job. I have also stopped using drugs myself," he said.
