Hyderabad: Stating that tokenism won't work when it is time to demonstrate patriotism, TRS MP K Kavitha on Friday said Bollywood should reconsider casting Pakistani actors in Indian films.

"I believe, in this time of confusion, where Pakistan is time and again striking our country; when sports personalities are boycotting playing with Pakistan, may be we should also reconsider. Bollywood should reconsider working with Pakistani actors," she said at an event in Nizamabad.

"When it is time to display patriotism, tokenism won't work," Kavitha, daughter of Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao, said.

“India doesn’t have dearth of artistes. This is the time when Bollywood artistes should stand with the country,” said Kavitha.

Observing that there is no opposition to artistes from other countries like Nepal, the Lok Sabha member from Nizamabad said Bollywood should understand why political parties are opposing Pakistani artistes.

The MP's comments came in the wake of the row over Bollywood film 'Ae Dil Hai Mushkil', which is facing threat from MNS for featuring Pakistani actor Fawad Khan in it.

The film, that features Fawad Khan in a cameo role, ran into trouble after Raj Thackeray-led Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) said they won't allow release of any movie in India that featured Pakistani artistes.

'Ae Dil Hai Mushkil', starring Ranbir Kapoor, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan and Anushka Sharma in lead roles, is due for release on October 28, ahead of Diwali.
