No mobile tower radiation proof, Centre tells Supreme Court
Centre told the court that extensive research studies had been carried out worldwide on the health effects of EMF radiation.
New Delhi: The Centre on Wednesday informed the Supreme Court that there was no conclusive evidence to establish any link between Electromagnetic Field (EMF) radiation and its effect on the health of citizens.
The Centre filed this affidavit in response to the concerns expressed by the court on October 3 about the health hazards of radiation from the thousands of mobile towers. The report was filed with scientific study material.
The court had asked the Centre to inform on the following points — whether any scientific study was done by the government on the impact of radiation by mobile towers on human beings, birds and others and what is the result.
The Centre told the court that extensive research studies had been carried out worldwide on the health effects of EMF radiation and the World Health Organisation had concluded that current evidence did not confirm the existence of any health consequence from exposure to low-level electromagnetic fields.
