Rudresh's murder case: No vital clues yet
Poor quality of CCTV footage hampering investigation, says police.
BENGALURU: The police probing the RSS activist Rudresh’s murder case have not yet got any major leads about the assailants and have further intensified their investigation.
Police sources said the investigating teams had probed the personal, financial and land dispute angles, but have not come across any vital clues. “After questioning all those connected to Rudresh, we have not got any clues about the accused. However, we are further going deep in the case to crack it,” an official said.
For the police the low resolution security cameras installed in many localities have made their job difficult. “We have got the footage of the assailants moving on a Pulsar bike. But no camera had good resolution to identify the assailants. Also, they have used interior roads both before and after committing the murder. We had zeroed in on the bike’s number plate, but it turned out to be fake,” the official added.
It is learnt that even the officials of the National Investigation Agency (NIA) have gathered details from the city police about the incident. “Not only the NIA, even the Kerala and Tamil Nadu police collected information about the case and we have exchanged the details, as similar incidents were reported there as well,” another official said.
Chief Minister Siddaramaiah has also asked the senior officers to crack the case at the earliest. “A team of senior officers met the CM and updated him about the progress. He directed them to solve the case as soon as possible,” the official added.
As part of the probe, the police teams have visited several places including other states. Carrying the sketch of the suspects, they are reportedly exchanging information with their counterparts in the neighbouring states.
‘Killers were highly trained’
The RSS worker Rudresh R. had died of a ‘chop’ wound, said an official source. “He was killed by professional killers, who are well trained in the art of butchery. He was hacked to death by a sharp object in one stroke which instantly cut off his blood vessels and veins,” said the officer on condition of anonymity.
According to sources, Rudresh’s killing may be considered an attack of terrorism because of the nature of the target, modus operandi and the fallout of the crime. "A chop wound is inflicted by a person, who is trained in the art of butchery” said the officer.
The police may take some cue from the ongoing NIA probe in the Kerala-IS module case in which the agency had arrested IS supporter Subhani Haja Moideen (31) from Tamil Nadu.
