DMK exhorts cadres to gear up for local body polls
MK Stalin to begin his campaign in first week of November.
Chennai: The Opposition DMK on Friday passed six resolutions in its district secretaries meeting and demanded the state to declare a medical emergency in Tamil Nadu so that the dengue epidemic can be controlled. “So far 40,940 people have been affected by dengue virus and as many as 126 people have died. In such a situation the Central health ministry should understand the seriousness of the outbreak and announce medical emergency to curtail the virus,” a resolution adopted at the meeting read.
The meeting led by DMK leader M.K Stalin also condemned the state government for being silent on issues like GST, Neet and Food Security Bill. The resolution also urged the Tamil Nadu government to stop supporting the Centre on schemes against the interest of TN people. Another resolution alleged large-scale scams by TN ministers and warned that no one can escape from investigations. The party also thanked DMK leader Stalin and party members for taking anti-dengue initiatives fighting the epidemic. The party also urged the cadres to gear up for local body polls and ensure that the ward level workers reached out to every voter explaining the failure of state and central governments on various issues.
After addressing the party workers, M.K. Stalin interacted with reporters and said he would soon kick off the second phase of his signature election campaign 'Namakku Naame - Vidiyal Meetpu Payanam'. The campaign would start in the first week of November and go on for about a month. The district secretary council thanked all DMK members for their untiring effort in fighting the menace without waiting for government action. Another resolution insisted the cadres to lookout for fake electorates in the voters roll.
