CPM leader builds house, gets stop memo
Zonal engineer of Thrissur corporation's building division Dhrisya T. Manoharan had warned of legal action if the work was not called off.
Thrissur: A local CPM leader is building a new house on the corporation land beside the road at Vadookara in Thrissur corporation limit allegedly with the silent consent of the CPM leaders who are in power in the civic body.
CPM local committee member M.T. Jose aka 'Kunjoos' allegedly has two other houses and is constructing the new house violating building rules, according to complainant C.R. Sujithkumar, a local resident. Though the corporation assistant engineer, who visited the spot, issued a stop memo to the CPM leader on Saturday afternoon, minutes after the return of the engineer, the construction work resumed. Mr Jose's wife, who is an employee with the Koorkenchery Service Co-operative Bank No. 36, received the stop memo in his absence.
Zonal engineer of Thrissur corporation's building division Dhrisya T. Manoharan had warned of legal action if the work was not called off. "No such new building can be allowed on the corporation land," Ms Dhrisya said.
Earlier on Wednesday and during the Navarathiri holiday, Koorkenchery village officer Bindu Davis and corporation officials on holiday duty had inspected the work site, but allegedly did not take any action due to political pressure.
Ms Bindu Davis said that the construction was taking place on the corporation land and that revenue officials had no role to play in the matter.
