Hyderabad: Illegal parking a headache
One commuter said it took 40 minutes to travel 40 metres due to illegal parking on the road.
Hyderabad: Illegal parking of vehicles on both sides of the road from Patny circle to Paradise circle and beyond till HDFC building is a headache for commuters. This is a crowded business locality anyway and the haphazard parking, which narrows down the road for through traffic, makes it worse.
Y. Devender, a regular commuter on this stretch, says that because of the illegally parked vehicles it took him 40 minutes to travel 40 metres from Paradise circle to HDFC bank. Imagine the plight of patients visiting Sun Shine Hospital which is on the same road, he says. I have complained to the police and requested them to install cement blocks to curb the illegal u-turns, says Mr Devender and wonders how an ambulance could get into the hospital fast enough.
This reporter asked a person who had parked his car in the no-parking area why he did so. What can we do? The malls have failed to provide parking space for us. We park our vehicle here just for some time and move after our work is done, came the answer
Clearly no one is afraid of punitive action, though Begumpet Inspector K. Muttu told Deccan Chronicle, We are issuing challans and booking cases for vehicles parked in no-parking areas regularly.
He said since it is a business area there will be floating public; they park for some time and then move away. We have given parking spaces at various places in the area.
