Hyderabad: City revenue officials have collected only Rs 55 crore against the targeted Rs 500 crore towards land regularisation under GO 59.

The last date for the submission of applications to regularise land under the government order was six months back and officials have scrutinised all the applications.

GO 59 was for regularising houses that had been constructed illegally on more than 125 square yards by collecting the market value from the applicants.

As estimations of the expected revenue were very poor in Hyderabad district, the government had extended the deadline for applications to the end of this year.

Hyderabad joint collector M. Prashanti said 5,931 applications had been received and revenue officials had collected about Rs 72.29 crore as fees. “During field and document verifications, 664 applications were found it be in-eligible and we are re-turning Rs 19 crore to the applicants,” she said.

“We are seeking more applications from those who occupied government lands and have been illegally living there for years. Revenue staff is creating awareness on the scheme among the public,” she said, adding that she hoped that they would collect another Rs 50 crore.

Earlier, the district revenue administration had converted nearly 1,000 applications from GO 58 to GO 59, as the plots were bigger than 125 square yards. As per GO 59, forest and other departmental lands should not be considered for regularisation. In cases of assigned lands and ULC lands, revenue officials can clear them after obtaining NOCs from the departments.
