Andhra Pradesh: Drones in place to curb crimes

The AP government has decided to use drones extensively in the hope that their use will provide solutions to various problems on land.

The government has directed all its district collectors to use drone technology freely to produce solutions and to enhance their administration.

Hyderabad: The AP government has decided to use drones extensively in the hope that their use will provide solutions to various problems on land.
The government has directed all its district collectors to use drone technology freely to produce solutions and to enhance their administration, by tracking crimes, surveillance of crowds, mob management and assessing traffic snarls.

The government used drones to film the recent Nandyal byelections. The government also deployed drones for up-to-date information on the Polavaram Project and the Ramco Mines. A demo of the working of the drones was conducted in Nellore district collectorate recently. The AP Urban Greening and beautification Corporation has started a green cover mapping using drones in Tirupati from September.

AP Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu, directed officials to use the drones for crowd control, traffic management and the regulation of crime. He said that drone use should be expanded to include tourism, agriculture, mines, forests, irrigation projects, law and order.
