Bengaluru: Ugly Indian helps spruce up school
The Ugly Indian, WeWork and the Embassy Group have cleaned up a Government Kannada Model Primary School in Challaghatta in Bengaluru.
BENGALURU: As a part of the transformation of Domlur tech-hub, The Ugly Indian, WeWork and the Embassy Group have cleaned up a Government Kannada Model Primary School in Challaghatta in Bengaluru.
The Ugly Indian have been successfully mobilizing various corporates and residents in the area to beautify the area, having widened their impact to over 58 ugly spots in Domlur alone.
They identified that the unhygienic surroundings of the school –leaking water and sewage lines and the dumping of garbage in the open field near the school. The Ugly Indian approached the GEMS team (Golf Links Embassy Management Services) to clear garbage near the school and providing alternate methods for waste collection.
They also approached BWSSB to fix the leaking pipes. With the Embassy Group’s assistance, they have begun the civil work to fix boundary walls. Plans are underway to install proper garbage collection system to prevent illegal dumping. Commenting on the project, Shaina Ganapathy, Head of Community Outreach at Embassy said, “We have a strong vision to build a fine social infrastructure and sustainable ecosystem. We are very delighted that WeWork employees and the Ugly Indians have come forward to help us.”
A representative for Ugly Indian said, “We follow the principle of Kaam Chalu Mooh Bandh (Only Work No Talk) and work with all stakeholders (government, corporate and residents) to solve common civic problems.”
