BENGALURU: A former MP's son was detained by the police for allegedly using abusive language when his vehicle was stopped by the police during a drunk driving check near Chinnaswamy stadium in Cubbon Park police station limits on Tuesday night.
The accsued, Ratan Shetty, son of former Udupi MP Jairam Shetty, was allegedly drunk and created a ruckus.
According to the police, while carrying out checks they stopped a car in which Ratan was sitting in the front seat next to the driver. When the police asked the driver to take the test, Ratan did not let him. Instead he reportedly told the police that he was going to be the next MLA and they have no right to stop his car. He continued arguing with the police and allegedly used abusive language.
The Cubbon Park police detained him and took him to the station and registered a case for obstructing the police from carrying out their duties.
Ratan filed a counter complaint accusing the police of using abusive language. However, he was later let off after he wrote an apology to the police.
