Sexual abuse case: Anticipatory bail plea of headmaster dismissed
In this circumstance, the headmaster had filed an anticipatory bail petition in the court apprehending police arrest, said the petitioner.
Madurai: The Madurai bench of the Madras high court dismissed the anticipatory bail petition filed by the school headmaster who was booked under the Pocso Act for sexually abusing girl students in Theni district.
A 13-year-old girl, a victim of sexual abuse, had challenged the bail petition filed by headmaster S. Ravichandran on the ground that he would influence the witnesses and tamper with records.
Mylanduparai police registered a case against Ravichandran under section 10 of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act, 2012, and various sections of the Indian Penal Code for sexually abusing girl students studying at Kamakallur Panchayat Union Middle School, Andipatti in Theni district for nearly seven years.
He particularly abused those in classes 7th and 8th, said the petitioner. She and two others who were unable to withstand his sexual torture, informed their parents who alerted Child Helpline, said the girl.
Child Helpline officials lodged a complaint with police on February 13, 2017, and the district child protection board also conducted an inquiry on 30th November after which the headmaster was placed under suspension.
In this circumstance, the headmaster had filed an anticipatory bail petition in the court apprehending police arrest, said the petitioner. However the court dismissed his petition.
