New zonal transfers stump government teachers in Telangana
Alleging huge irregularities in the transfer process, teachers unions have threatened to launch an agitation if anomalies are not addressed
Hyderabad: The ongoing transfers of state government employees based on the new zonal system has created unrest among the 1.25 lakh government teachers posted across districts.
Alleging huge irregularities in the transfer process, teachers unions have
threatened to launch an agitation if the anomalies in seniority list are not addressed in their proper perspecttive and if transfers are not done in a transparent manner.
As many as 17 teachers unions, under the aegis of JACTO (Joint action
committee of teachers POINTorgnisations), and another 17, under UPSC
(Upadhyaya sanghala porata committee), on Monday met chief secretary Somesh Kumar and brought their concerns to his notice.
They submitted a representation urging the state government to give priority to nativity along with seniority while transferring teachers. They stated that the guidelines specified in GO 317 (06.12.2021) for transfer of teachers have become a matter of serious concern for the teaching community, especially because they are clueless about which district they will be transferred to.
They pointed out that several teachers, despite serving in existing districts for several years, were forced to move to non-local districts. The delegation complained that the district-level seniority lists that have been released were full of anomalies and officials had resorted to irregularities while preparing the lists.
They demanded the government to put a revised seniority list in public domain.
Transfers should be gone about only after the government considers seniority
and nativity factors, they said. Transfers in the middle of the academic year will hit the academic progress of all students, they said.
