AP, TS should be proud of PV, says ex-CJI
Popular poet and folk singer Goreti Vekanna has been chosen for the Foundation award this year.
Visakhapatnam: Advanced robotics, 3D technology and driver-less cars could emerge as the most integral part of our lives in the very near future, impacting the generation of jobs, said former Chief Justice of India Justice M.N. Venkatachaliah while addressing the 5th PV Narasimha Rao Memorial Lecture on ‘Civilisation – Culture – Society’ organised by Lok Nayak Foundation in Andhra University on Saturday.
Sharing his memoirs with P.V. Narasimha Rao, he said: "He was an outstanding personality and a resourceful person".
Justice Venkatachaliah urged the Indian government to think of what Cuba is doing for human development. "There is one doctor in every 120 people, one teacher for eight students and every child gets 1 litre milk everyday,” he said.
Justice Venkatachalaiah complimented Found-ation president Y. Lakshmi Prasad for his commitment in promoting art and culture. He also mentioned about the dangerous consequences of atomic power if handled callously.
Addressing the meet, Supreme Court Judge Justice J. Chelameswar stressed on the need of hailing former PM P.V. Narasimha Rao in the present AP State too, without limiting him to Telangana state. "Among the very few personalities who brought honour to their jobs, Mr Rao is one from Andhra Pradesh and Telugu people are fortunate to have him as the PM," he said.
Supreme Court Judge Justice Laavu Nageswara Rao, Director of Judicial Academy of India Justice G. Raghuram, AMESCO representative D. Vijay Kumar, MLC M.V.V.S. Murthi were present.
