Hyderabad: Waste will not be collected from households within the GHMC’s jurisdiction, unless it’s segregated, Mayor, Bonthu Rammohan, has said.

Few residents of Devarakonda at Banjara hills woke up to a surprise on Saturday morning when the mayor himself knocked at their doors. Mr Rammohan was joined by a team of officials who then inspected various pockets in the West Zone.

And while at Himayathnagar, the mayor said that sanitation staff will not collect garbage unless the waste was not segregated into wet and dry by residents.

“The corporation has distributed 44 lakh twin bins to improve this collection system within the city’s divisions. The attitude towards waste must change,” he said.
