Mend your ways, N Chandrababu Naidu tells MLCs
Leaders' role vital in presenting the party's policies and programmes to public, says Chief Minister.
Vijayawada: The post lunch session of the TD’s Marathon, organized at CM’s Undavalli residence on Saturday élicited serious observations about the party MLCs by the national president Mr N. Chandrababu Naidu.
Pointing out the differences between Karanam Balaramakrishna Murthy and Gottipati Ravikumar in Prakasam district, MLC Y.B. Rajendraprasad and MLA Bode Prasad in Krishna district, and Ramasubba Reddy and Adinarayana Reddy in Kadapa district, Mr Naidu lambasted the attitude of some of the party MLCs, and the way they were behaving.
“Your attire should enhance the image of the party. Because of you, the party should not lose even 10 votes,” Mr Naidu thundered, warning them and other leaders as well.
“You are rewarded as MLCs for your services and contribution to the party,” Mr Naidu said, adding that he would not tolerate indiscipline in any manner and by anybody, irrespective of their seniority in the party.
In case MLCs confronting others was noticed, Mr Naidu made it very clear that he would not offer them seats again.
Naidu also elaborated that he would be able to state just how many constituencies TD would win, in case elections were held now and would be able to name the candidates who would win too.
“Leaders’ working style, attitude, and socio-political issues are the main reason for the party’s backwardness in some constituencies,” he said, adding that they concentrate on bringing in social sections that had drifted apart, closer to the party.
Such social sections should join TD and leaders would have to change their working style accordingly, he added.
Mr Naidu asked how many States were giving Rs 5 lakh insurance, and how many had constructed cement roads in villages. “Why can’t we, as Telugu Desam, translate the same into public satisfaction and ask the public to vote for us?"
Mr. Naidu added, “I advise every leader to adjudicate themselves at least for ten minutes every day to introspect what they have achieved and what still needs to be done. The election to come up in Kuppam this time is the sixth one for Telugu Desam. The party’s 30-year journey became possible because of people’s support and also the ability of the leadership.”
Mr Naidu asked party leaders to carry forward the spirit to other constituencies in the State.
