Seer enjoyed deep bond with Suttur, other Mysuru mathas
Even in his old age he did not stop his good work.
Mysuru: Even as pontiffs of several mathas in the old Mysuru region including Mysuru, Chamarajnagar and Mandya condoled the demise of Sri Shivakumara Swamiji, an eerie silence descended over all the maths especially Suttur Matha with which he had a deep great association.
As many as 4,000 children (boys and girls) including 200 children from the North-East (Meghalaya, Manipur, Jharkand, Uttar Pradesh and Himachal Pradesh), who get free English and Kannada medium education from class 1 to class 10 at the JSS residential school at Suttur matha at Nanjangud taluk, prayed for peace for his soul. The kids had been praying for the swamiji’s recovery during their morning and evening prayers, matha sources said.
“Shivakumara Swamiji was associated with Suttur Matha since the time of the previous seer of the matha, late Dr Shivarathri Rajendra Mahaswamiji. He had even attended the ‘pattaadikara’ anointment ceremony of the present seer of Suttur Matha, Sri Shivarathri Deshikendra Swamy. The last programme of the matha he participated in was the centenary celebration of Dr Shivarathri Rajendra Mahaswamy ji in January 2016 and PM Narendra Modi participated,” Tripuranthaka of Suttur Math said.
Aadi Chunchangiri Matha seer Dr Sri Nirmalanandanatha Swamy termed Shivakumara Swamiji as a Karmayogi, Dharma Yogi and Trivida Dasohi and said “Even though he preached spirituality for enlightening people and for a clean society, he also laid emphasis on modern education needed for contemporary life. Even in his old age he did not stop his good work. His sad demise is a huge loss to the state and the entire spiritual world,” he said.
Sri Ganapathi Sacchidanada swamy of Ganapathi Sacchidanda Ashram of Mysuru who is in Burma, in a video message said, “His contributions will be remembered forever. His guidance will be with his disciples always.”
