Hyderabad: A restaurant at Habsiguda was seized by officials on Tuesday for using rotten meat, storing leftover biryani and cooking in unhygienic conditions.

The Sri Ruchi Bawarchi at Habsiguda  street number 8 was found to be using meat that had stored for over a week. GHMC officials inspected it and found that the stock — weighing over 5 kilos — was giving off a foul odour.

“We found leftover biryani and stinking meat. The owner admitted the stock was supposed to be disposed of, however, it was already lunch time. The kitchen was also in a poor state of hygiene. The restaurant’s license had expired in March 2016 and was operating illegally,” an official said.
