Chennai: Accusing Chief Minister Edappadi K. Palanisami of running the government in the name of former Chief Minister J. Jayalalithaa who had been found guilty in a disproportionate assets case, PMK founder S. Ramadoss sought the removal of the prefix Amma in government schemes.

He said the Chief Minister is keeping a portrait of Jayalalithaa in his table and paid floral tributes before announcing welfare schemes and declaring the government would follow the path shown by Jayalalithaa. Pointing out that Palanisami had named the two-wheeler concession scheme for women as Amma two-wheeler scheme, Ramadoss said the government should work as per the constitution.

The Chief Minister and his colleagues could pay respects to Jayalalithaa in party functions, but not in government functions. Ramadoss said the schemes like Amma drinking water, Amma pharmacy, Amma salt, Amma seeds, Amma cement, Amma special camp, Amma children welfare scheme, Amma debt scheme for small traders, Amma theatres, Amma materinity Sanjeevi scheme, Amma women’s medical check up scheme, Amma parks and Amma health schemes should be converted into government schemes.

Ramadoss also said the Jayalalithaa memorial should be closed and Governor Ch. Vidyasagar Rao should instruct the CM to run his government as per the Constitution.
