Ahmedabad: The Congress has finally decided to take on the Modi-Shah duo in their fortress. The Congress Working Committee, the party’s highest decision-making body, will meet in Ahmedabad on February 28. This is the first CWC in the state in 58 years.

Congress president Rahul Gandhi, general secretary for East Uttar Pradesh Priyanka Gandhi-Vadra, UPA chairperson Sonia Gandhi, former prime minister Manmohan Singh and other senior leaders will attend the meeting.

It will be the first time that the Gandhis will be seen together on a public platform after Ms Priyanka Gandhi took a plunge into politics. She will deliver her maiden speech at the public rally where she is expected to challenge Prime Minister Narendra Modi in his home turf.

The meeting, probably the last one before the Election Commission formally announces general elections, is being seen as very important and crucial. Many important decisions regarding the elections are likely to be taken there.

The meeting will be preceded in the morning by a special prayer event at the Gandhi Ashram to pay tribute to martyrs of the Pulwama attack. The CWC will meet at the Sardar Patel Memorial at 10 am after which they will hold a public rally at Trimandir campus in Adalaj, Ahmedabad, at 2 pm.
