NSS rejects Kodiyeri Balakrishnan's offer of talks
Mr Nair said on Thursday that the organisation did not intend to conduct discussions with anyone.
Kottayam: NSS general secretary G. Sukumaran Nair has rejected the offer made by CPM state secretary Kodiyeri Balakrishnan to go to Perunna and hold talks with the NSS.
Mr Nair said on Thursday that the organisation did not intend to conduct discussions with anyone and had not entrusted any person to do so.
“Despite apprising Mr. Balakrishnan and the chief minister of our demand to protect the faith and customs at Sabarimala on a number of occasions, their response had been disheartening. The NSS has never even attempted to have a discussion with anyone on the issue. Neither did we assign any entity for the purpose,” he said in a statement.
According to Mr Nair, the government’s stance that it would implement even a new order of the Supreme Court should not be regarded as an act of kindness.
Maintaining that the NSS stood firm on Sabarimala issue, it affirmed that the organisation would stand by the devotees regardless of the outcome of the ongoing litigation. “it is the government which should change the stance,” the statement added.
