Osmania Medical College students want Telangana government to give ex-gratia
Students refuse to attend lectures stating they are upset with the administration.
Hyderabad: Osmania Medical College students today staged dharna in classrooms, demanding immediate compensation from the government for the family members of the four students who died in the Vijaywada bus accident.
The students refused to attend lectures and held placards stating that they were upset with the college administration and also the state government that had not declared ex-gratia payment for the deceased.
President of Junior Doctors Association Dr G Srinivas said, “the students want the government to speak clearly on this issue. They have also met the health minister Dr Laxma Reddy who promised that the issue will be looked into.” Director of Health and Medical Education, Dr M Ramani, said, “the families of the deceased have been given a compensation of Rs 7 lakhs by the Osmania Medical College Development Society.” He said that Rs 6 crore has been sanctioned by the government for college buses.
