KOZHIKODE: The Childline India Foundation is preparing a vulnerability map for the district, based on crimes against children. A map of the rural region is already completed, according to the officials. The parameters for preparing the map include survival indices, vaccination, malnutrition, health issues and infanticide.
“The map is being prepared for a better understanding of the district in terms of child care," said district coordinator M.P. Muhammedali. "In the rural areas, the condition has improved after two years of persistent campaigns like Balasuraksha Yathra. Incidents of child marriage and child beggary have come down considerably,” The team would start the data collection in 70 panchayats and seven municipalities early April and complete in two weeks. They will make the map after coordinating the data from corporation limits.
After finalising the vulnerability map details, they would present two reports to the district authorities -one to the district panchayat president and the other to the district collector.
Two directors, two coordinators, seven team members and MSW students as trainees, would be completing the mapping process.
