Kochi: The failure of the Kerala Water Authority (KWA) in filling potholes caused due to pipe repair works in Aluva town prompted local councillors to carry out the repair works all by themselves.

Councillors Sebi V. Bastin, K. Jayakumar and A.C. Santosh Kumar filled the potholes with concrete on Wednesday after two-wheeler riders were caught unawares, and a couple of them felling off from vehicles, on Tuesday night.

“The deep pothole at Palace Road in Aluva town was formed post the pipe repair work carried out by the KWA. When we contacted the PWD officials, they said their KWA counterparts are responsible for the job. However, the KWA officials did nothing so far though they promised to take up the work on a war-footing. Finally we obtained the permission of the PWD and filled it up,” Sebi said.
