Chandrababu Naidu sets deadline for completion of project
The reservoir at Cherlopalli was under formation across HNSS Punganur branch canal.
Anantapur: Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu directed the irrigation authorities to complete Madakasira branch canal works under phase II of Handri Neeva Sujala Sravanti irrigation and drinking water project by August this year. A deadline was also made for completion of Cherlopalli reservoir by June.
During his visit, Mr Chandrababu Naidu had inspected ongoing works of Handri Neeva Sujala Sravanti irrigation and drinking water project at D. Cherlopalli in Kadiri mandal in the district on Thursday.
The CM visited the photo exhibition on Handri Neeva Sujala Sravanti project at the work site. The reservoir at Cherlopalli was under formation across HNSS Punganur branch canal. Mr Naidu, accompanied by the ministers Devineni Umamaheswar Rao, Palle Raghunath Reddy had a review meeting with the irrigation officials and construction agencies at the work site.
HNSS superintending engineer Sudhakar Babu briefed that branch canal towards Kuppam in Chittoor district was under progress from Patnam of Kadiri revenue division in Anantapur district. Four km long site was allotted for reservoir at D. Cherlopalli.
The reservoir designed to have storage capacity of 1.60 tmc ft. He also directed the irrigation officials to form at least 1,400 check dams to be storage points at all parts of the district. Naidu directed the HNSS engineers to prepare a plan to fill all the tanks in Amadagur, Nallamada and Kadiri areas.
The Chief Minister made it clear that the reservoir works should be completed by June and Madakasira branch canal by August this year. "We are providing everything including revised estimates of ongoing works to get completed by the given schedule," Mr Naidu opined and added at least 100 tmc ft of water can be diverted through Pattiseema through diversion towards Rayalaseema region.
