EC removes two more officers ahead of Bengal 4th phase poll
The EC had earlier removed several officials including Kolkata Police Commissioner Rajeev Kumar.
Kolkata: The Election Commission on Friday removed South 24 Parganas district magistrate P B Salim and Superintendent of Police in North 24 Parganas district Tanmoy Roy Chowdhury following complaints by opposition parties ahead of the fourth phase assembly poll in Bengal.
EC sources said here Salim would be replaced by Avanindra Singh, Joint Secretary of the Transport Department and Roy Chowdhury by Annappa E, Superintendent of Railway Police at Siliguri.
The new officers have been asked to take over their new responsibilities with immediate effect, the sources said. The EC had earlier removed several officials including Kolkata Police Commissioner Rajeev Kumar and a number of DMs and SPs in the state following complaints by the opposition political parties.
