Project director rules' from Telangana capital Hyderabad
Official allows monster ayahs a free run by failing to attend office regularly.
KARIMNAGAR: Women and Child development department’s project director S. Mohan Reddy, who is under the radar for dereliction of duty following the incident of the children being burnt by ayahs at the Karimnagar Shishu Griha, apparently lives in Hyderabad and discharges his duties from there.
This has eased matters for the employees of the department. Sources said Mr Mohan Reddy resides in Hyderabad and visits his office in Karimnagar district headquarters occasionally.
“He clears all files whenever he happens to come to the city. He doesn’t attend office regularly. He relies on information sent by his confidants about developments of the department,” stated an official of the department.
It now seems that his lack of concern in discharging his duties was enabling employees of the department to skip their duties, to swindle funds of various schemes and to indulge in irregularities.
“Majority of employees belonging to different wings of the department show apathy in completing their jobs thanks to absence of his supervision and vigilance,” said a source. The project director is also accused by some of having direct relations with contractors of various works and collects commission from them.
He is also accused of claiming certain amounts on bills generated on expenditure of tea and photocopying at the department office.
