Toll plazas in Telangana will not stop all motorists

Hyderabad: With the much-awaited FASTag system being operational at toll plazas across Telangana and AP, motorists on highways can now just drive through without having to stop and pay the toll.

Motorists who have FASTag affixed on vehicles? windscreens can now enjoy seamless travel as 12 of the 13 toll plazas in Telangana and 18 of the 26 in Andhra Pradesh have been activated with Radio Frequency Identification Devices that give access to RFID-supported FASTag affixed vehicles.

Motorists, however, have limited options for obtaining FASTag as only two points of sale have been set up, one each in Telangana and Andhra Pradesh.
The National Highway Authorities of India has tied up with ICICI and Axis Banks.

As on date, only ICICI Bank has set up sale points at Raikal toll gate in Mahabubnagar district and at the Tangutur toll plaza in Prakasam district.
Motorists can purchase FASTag by submitting their identification documents at the sale points or call or SMS the ICICI Bank helpline.

SMS  ITOLL (Space) Pincode (Space) Name to 5676766. for example  ITOLL 400051 Kumar. Alternatively, one can call the ICICI helpline number 1860-267-0104.

“FASTag can be recharged up to Rs 1 lakh with the minimum amount being '100. The registration fee is Rs 200. For details, motorists can log on to www.nhai.org and click on FASTag,” NHAI Regional officer Mr RC Reddy told DC.

NHAI manager Ms Y. Madhavi said motorists could avail cash-back of 10 per cent on all toll payments using FASTag in 2016-17. The amount for a particular month would be credited back to the FASTag account. ICICI and Axis Banks will also make FASTag available at select branches soon.
