Hyderabad: Taking a DC report in to consideration, Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation has issued show cause notices to all assistant medical officer health (AMOHs). The Additional Commissioner, Mohammed Musharraf Ali Faruqui, has conducted a ground inspection and identified that sweeping machines have covered less than 50 km when they are supposed to cover 60 km per day from 9 pm to 7 am.

The corporation has conducted field inspections from April 9 to April 15 and found as many as 18 sweeping machines that have been under performing, as they have swept less than 50 km. Interestingly, a sweeping machine with the registration number AP 29 BC 9133 has only swept 0.9 km from 6 pm on April 13 to 6pm on April 14. Citing the discrepancies in sweeping machines, Musharraf Ali has sought explanations from the AMOHs concerned and has asked them to take action against every individual who has indulged in misappropriations.

DC had published a report on April 6 titled, Corruption sweeps public money off roads, on how the sweeping machines have been sweeping only one lane adjacent to the road divider, and not all lanes.
