Bengaluru: A traffic police constable sustained injuries after being hit by a biker, who was performing stunts and escaped on seeing him under Yelahanka traffic police station limits early Sunday.
The injured constable, Martandappa (29), is attached to Yelahanka traffic police station. While he and his colleagues were on night patrol, they spotted two youth performing stunts on their bikes.
When Martandappa saw them coming towards them on the Airport Road, he got down from the bike near Yelahanka Bypass and tried to stop the duo as they approached.
While one biker sped away, the other one hit the constable and sped away. The incident took place around 3:30 am, police said.
Another constable who was with Martandappa rushed him to a nearby hospital. Yelahanka traffic police have registered a case and are examining CCTV footage to identify the vehicle’s number plate.
