Kerala minor hacked to death in Pathanamthitta
Two friends who studied with the victim until class nine, attacked him for allegedly insulting one of them through social media
Kochi: A 16-year-old student was hacked to death allegedly by two of his classmates in Kodumon in Pathanamthitta district. The victim, Akhil S, was a student of St George's Mount High School at Kaipattoor.
The heinous incident happened on Tuesday afternoon in a rubber plantation near SNV Higher Secondary School, Angadickal.
According to the police, the accused took Akhil from his house in a bicycle and reached the deserted rubber plantation area.
The two friends who studied with Akhil until class nine attacked him for allegedly insulting one of them through social media. They pelted stones at Akhil and when he fell down he was hacked to death using an axe, according to police.
The local residents who spotted the two students in the deserted plantation area intimated the police. The police took the duo into custody.
Police have initiated a detailed probe into the incident.
