Chennai: Woman and paramour grilled over her son’s mystery death
Found at final rituals that boy was tortured.
Chennai: A woman and her alleged paramour were arrested by Ambattur police in connection with the death of her three-year-old son three days ago. The couple were arrested after it came to light that the sister of the accused found the boy was subjected to brutal torture.
The accused were identified as K. Bhuvaneshwari who resided in a rented house in Penanbedu, Ambattur, and her alleged live-in partner, Somasundaram. The alleged torture came to light after the body of the three-year-old boy was taken to their native in Pattukottai, for final rituals.
According to police, one Karthikeyan (35) of Chennai, was married to Bhuvaneshwari of Pattukottai (32) four years ago, and the couple were residing in Chennai with their three-year-old son, Kishore.
Sources said Bhuvaneshwari met Somasundhram and fell in love with him. When Karthikeyan was not at home, Somasundaram used to visit Bhuvaneshwari in her house. Karthikeyan had learnt about the illicit affair and warned his wife. However, she continued her relationship with Somasundaram.
Police sources said she allegedly rented a house in Penambedu in Ambattur and stayed with Somasundaram and her son Kishore. Meanwhile, on Sunday evening, Bhuvaneshwari informed her sister in Pattukottai that her son slipped from the terrace, and died.
However, when the body was taken to the native place, Bhuvaneshwari's sister found several burn and brutal injury marks on his body, following which a case was lodged with the Ambattur police. Police registered a case and brought the boy's body to the Kilpauk government hospital for post-mortem. Police have taken Bhuvaneshwari and Somasundaram in custody, and are investigating.
