VIJAYAWADA: State BJP president Somu Veerraju has claimed here that the common man is not affected by the cancellation of ₹2,000 currency notes.

Addressing the party’s NTR district executive committee meeting on Sunday, Veerraju pointed out that the ₹2000 notes mainly were out of circulation for the past several months. “Some corrupt leaders piled up ₹2,000 notes for use in the elections to lure voters. They are trying to mislead the people regarding the present RBI decision on ₹2000 notes withdrawal,” he said.

Responding to the protests by state government employees, Veerrau said that it was a shame they were calling for agitations. “Government employees have become labour unions leaders and are organising agitations. Is Chief Minister Jagan Reddy treating the state as an industry? Why is this situation of protests by government employees happening here repeatedly,” he asked.

Veerraju said that BJP is organising working group meetings in all districts from Sunday to Thursday, May 25, across the state. The party would hold the meetings in all the mandals from May 24 to 27.
On the occasion of completion of nine years of PM Modi's rule of the nation, the BJP is organising 13 kinds of programmes. “From May 30 to June 30, we would visit houses across the 26 districts.”

He said BJP leaders will meet 125 families and 25 communities in every assembly constituency and mobilise them under the party’s banner.

Veerraju said a meeting of people from all walks of life would be held in every Parliament constituency. BJP leaders and cadre would go door-to-door and explain about the welfare schemes being implemented by the
Modi government. “We would hold special meetings with businessmen to gather their support for the party and the Modi government.”

Veerraju said that during the BJP's charge-sheet filing programme in the state against the state government, “several issues came to our attention about corruption and illegalities.” If the sarpanches are brought under the provisions of the Right to Information Act, instances of massive corruption would come out.

He said corruption happens at the levels of MLAs, ministers and the chief minister in AP and the BJP would expose these through its charge-sheet programme. “We will file charge-sheets against the YSRC government at village, mandal, district, constituency and state levels,” he said.
