Covid-19 continues to surge in Andhra Pradesh
477 fresh cases take the coronvirus count to the 9000 region in the state
Vijayawada: Andhra Pradesh continued to register a surge of Covid-19 positive cases with 477 fresh cases registered in past 24 hours on Sunday.
According to the health bulletin released by the health department as many as 24,451 samples were tested in the last 24 hours and 477 persons tested positive, taking the overall tally to 8,929. There were five deaths with three in Krishna district and one each at Kurnool and Chittoor districts increasing the toll to 106.
Of the 8,929 cases, 7,059 belong to the State, 1,540 from other States and 330 foreign returnees. As many as 4,516 are active positive cases and 4,307 have been discharged.
Hotbed Kurnool has reported 1,294 positive cases, followed by Krishna district (1,048) and Anantapur district (800).
Meanwhile, in the latest day’s count, 70 cases were in East Godavari district increasing its tally to 555 in which 258 are active cases. Around 66 cases were from Krishna district with its overall figure touching 1,048 and 559 being active cases.
As many as 58 cases were registered in Kadapa district with the figure going up to 388 and of which 246 are active cases. Five cases pertained to West Godavari district taking its total to 550. There are 440 active cases.
With 47 fresh cases apiece the figure in Kurnool touched 1,294 (528 active) while in Chittoor the total positive cases are 562 of which 284 are active cases.
In Visakhapatnam, 39 positive cases were registered thereby increasing the total to 300. There are 126 active cases. In Guntur there were 26 new cases, increasing the total 768 (256 active).
Nellore district registered 12 cases increasing the tally to 471 (224 active) while in Anantapur, 11mew cases took the figure to 800 (506 active).
Six positive cases were registered in Vizianagaram district increasing the total to 84 (53 active) while it was five new cases in Prakasam district taking the tally to 180 (83 active cases). There was no new case in Srikakulam district.
The positive cases of those returning from other States touched 1,540 (639 active) while with four new cases the figure of foreign returnees stands at 330 (278 active). The highest number of 293 positive cases pertains to Kuwait returnees.
