Hyderabad: CLP leader Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka said that former MP Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy was joining the party to end the “corrupt and exploitative rule of KCR” and realise the objectives for which Telangana was formed, by voting the Congress to power.

Addressing the media at Kethepally town in Nakrekal Assembly constituency, he asked Srinivas Reddy and his associates to take an active role in the reconstruction of Telangana.  “I could not visit the residence of Srinivas Reddy along with PCC president Revanth Reddy and others (on Wednesday) as I was in the midst of the padayatra,” Bhatti said.

On the conclusion of the padayatra, which has run over 1,100 km, Bhatti said it would be decided after a meeting with Rahul Gandhi. “A public meeting will be held as per the decision of the AICC,” Bhatti said.

Bhatti suffered a heat stroke during his march and is currently recovering.

Speaking on the occasion, Srinivas Reddy said, “I congratulate Bhatti for undertaking the yatra over the 100-day period to learn firsthand the plight of people and their hardships under the BRS rule, despite the soaring temperature in the summer. I wish the padayatra a grand success. KCR is not someone who fulfils the promises made in his election manifesto.”

Asserting that he was not assured of a seat while joining the party, Srinivas Reddy said, “The Congress high command will take a decision on the entry of former Nakrekal MLA Vemula Veeresham into the party fold.”

Former minister Ramreddy Damodar Reddy also welcomed Srinivas Reddy into the Congress. “The goal of all of us is to bring Congress back to power. All the leaders will work unitedly towards this endeavour,” he said.
