Demonetised notes: Karnataka High Court dismisses accused's plea
The High Court on Friday stayed further proceedings against RSS leader Kalladka Prabhakar Bhat before the concerned lower court.
Bengaluru: The Karnataka High Court on Friday dismissed the petition filed by V. Nagaraj, an ex-councillor, and his two sons Gandhi and Shastri, seeking directions for CBI probe into the case registered against them.
The petitioner, Nagaraj, was arrested following a police raid on his house that led to the seizure of Rs 14.8 crore cash in demonetised currency. The petitioner had sought for CBI probe citing that false cases were registered against them.
The prosecution, on the other hand, strongly objected citing non cooperation of the petitioners in the investigation relating to the seizure of banned currencies.
Proceedings against Kalladaka stayed.
The High Court on Friday stayed further proceedings against RSS leader Kalladka Prabhakar Bhat before the concerned lower court, in connection with two separate cases which accused him of hurting religious sentiments by making inflammatory speeches in 2015.
Vitla and Bantwala Town Police had registered cases against him following a complaint filed by one Abdulla Nadaje. Later, the state in March 2017 granted permission to prosecute him under these charges. Kalladka had approached the high court challenging the state government decision.
