Mysuru: An undertrial at Mandya sub jail reportedly ended his life by hanging in the jail toilet on Thursday night. Raghavendra, 33, tied the blanket, provided to him in jail, to the window.

According to SP Mandya Radhika, who visited the jail, Raghavendra was sentenced for chainsnatching in April this year. Fellow inmates called him ‘quiet’, saying he was upset that his relatives hadn’t visited him or applied for bail, she said. CCTV footages on the jail premises have revealed that it is a case of suicide, she added.

A case has been registered in Mandya West Police Station. After the inquest autopsy at Mandya institute of Medical Sciences, the body was given to the relatives, Radhika said.
