Coimbatore: Amidst ongoing power struggle, MLA V.C. Arukutty suddenly withdrew his support for O. Panneerselvam and praised Chief Minister Edappadi K. Palaniswami.

Former Chief Minister O. Panneerselvam has been meeting his party cadres in all districts. Since he planned to visit Coimbatore on July 29, his followers have organised a function at Codissia ground. They inaugurated the awning construction work for the function on Friday.  MLA Arukutty avoided the function and addressed mediapersons at his residence here. He said that he was ignored by the senior leaders of OPS camp and he had not received an invitation for the function.

"My first priority is constituency welfare. So I am planning to act according to people's wish. Soon, I will announce a good decision." he said.

A close associate of an MLA said, "the ruling government has started giving importance to MLA Arukutty by offering more development works to his constituency."

Arukutty was one among the first few party heavyweights to extend their support to OPS by visiting his home in Chennai in February. He has planned to meet Chief Minister Edappadi K. Palaniswami soon.
