Hyderabad: The GHMC will launch a mobile app next week to monitor the daily progress of work and increase accountability of engineers.

Municipal administration and urban development principal secretary Arvind Kumar said pictures of ongoing works would be uploaded daily which would be monitored by senior officials.

He was speaking at a review meeting at the Charminar zonal office, where he asked officials to expedite road work.

Mr Kumar directed the recently appointed assistant engineers to visit their allotted wards and co-ordinate to monitor road restoration works, especially when it rains. He told senior engineering officials to conduct ward-wise meetings in the next couple of days and ensure that roads are restored on priority.

“Citizens must be informed about road restoration so that they will know about the work  being taken up for the development of the city. Officials must pass on the information through Twitter for clarity,” he said.  Mr Kumar made a surprise inspection of the road restoration works at Rajend-ranagar circle.

GHMC commissioner Dr B. Janardhan Reddy asked engineers to put up caution boards at work spots to alert road-users with data such as starting and completion date of the work.
