Hyderabad: A public interest litigation has been moved before the Hyderabad High Court challenging the appointments of Chief Information Commissioner and State Information Commissioner by the Telangana state government.

City resident G. Nageswara Rao moved the PIL stating that the state government had appointed Mr Raja Sadaram Soma as Chief Information Commissioner and Mr Buddha Murali as State Information Commissioner without issuing any public notification.

He submitted that the government on September 13, 2017, had constituted a selection committee and appointed the two officials on September 15, 2017.

Not issuing a public notification denied qualified persons an opportunity to apply for the posts, the PIL said.

He urged the court to quash the appointments.
