Kochi: Ernakiulam collector S. Suhas along with a delegation of officials from various agencies on Sunday visited Mulavukad along the Container Road to study issues of local residents and directed measures to redress water logging and illegal parking among others.
The collector asked officials concerned to shorten the height of seven culverts so that water would flow out and water logging is avoided .
“Water-logging is the result of unscientific construction of service road along the Container Road,” said Shajahan P A, a local resident. “The culvert is constructed at the same height as that of the main road. The area will be immersed in rain water in heavy rains. We face threats from reptiles and disease outbreak with the water entering our houses,”
The collector promised to convene a meet including local MP, MLA, representatives of Cochin Port Trust, drivers union, operators union and the panchayat to resolve the issue of illegal parking.
