Missing techie found dead on rail track near Palacode

According to police, Syed went to Bengaluru in neighboring Karnataka after informing his wife that he would return the same day.

KRISHNAGIRI: The Salem railway police recovered the body of a man who went missing ten days ago from his in-laws’ house. He was found dead on the railway track on Sunday.

Police said 36-year-old S. Syed Tanvir Ahmed, a techie who worked abroad and was a native of Ayanavaram in Chennai, went missing from his in-laws’ house on July 12. A man missing complaint was registered by his 32-year-old pregnant wife Shilpa of Rayakottai in Krishnagiri district.

According to police, Syed went to Bengaluru in neighboring Karnataka after informing his wife that he would return the same day. Shilpa, unable to contact him gave a police complaint in Rayakottai police station after Syed did not return home.

Meanwhile, he was found dead in the early hours of Sunday, ten days after he went missing. His dead body was lying on the track between Rayakottai and Palacode railway stations.

The inter-faith marriage of Syed and Shilpa took place six years ago. They studied together in a private engineering college at Chennai and married against the wishes of their parents.

Initially, their relatives were against the marriage but later reconciled.

There was also no difference of opinion between the couple for Syed to commit suicide, said police.

Salem police who registered a case is probing to find whether Syed died accidentally or if it was a case of murder.
