My dad did not take money from BJP: Vishwanath’s son
He also said his father was brought to the JD (S) by former MLA late Mr Chikkamaadu, Madhu Bangarappa and Harishgowda, the son of Mr G.T. Devegowda.
Mysuru: Amit Devaratti, son of senior politician and rebel JD(S) MLA Mr A.H. Vishwanath, has countered the allegation of JD (S) leader and Tourism Minister Mr Sa Ra Mahesh and asserted that his father had not taken any money from the BJP.
Speaking to media persons here on Sunday, Mr Devaratti said Mr Sa Ra Mahesh has been making baseless allegations against his father out of sheer frustration and the fear of losing his post of minister. If he has any documents related to the allegation, he should make them public. People had contributed money for all ten elections of his father and they are answerable only to the public, he said.
He also said his father was brought to the JD (S) by former MLA late Mr Chikkamaadu, Madhu Bangarappa and Harishgowda, the son of Mr G.T. Devegowda. Had his father (who hails from KR Nagar taluk) not used his clout, Sa Ra Mahesh would not have won by a good margin in KR Nagar seat in the Assembly polls, Mr Devaratti said.
Earlier Mr Vishwanath had said that he would file a defamation case against Mr Sa Ra Mahesh for calling him corrupt and for alleging that he had fallen victim to Operation Lotus of the BJP.
Meanwhile, Hunsur taluk JD (S) youth president Lokesh who questioned Mr Sa Ra Mahesh for making a statement against Mr Vishwanath, has reportedly been suspended from the party for six years.
