Karnataka High Court allows Nursing Council to announce list
The single-judge bench had further restrained the INC from asking institutions to obtain recognition from it.
Bengaluru: The Karnataka High Court on Monday allowed the Indian Nursing Council (INC) to publish a list of institutes on its website.
A division bench of the High Court, in an interim order, passed the direction on an appeal filed by several nursing institutes against the order of a single-judge bench.
The single-judge bench in July had held that INC had no authority to grant recognition to institutions that are conducting nursing courses in the state.
The single-judge bench had further restrained the INC from asking institutions to obtain recognition from it. Following the order, several institutes had filed an appeal.
The institutes argued before the single-judge bench that that as per law, INC has the authority to decide about qualification and other issues, while the state government and its affiliated Universities which have the right to grant recognition to institutions.
HC likely to hear BSY plea today
The High Court on Tuesday is likely to hear the petition of former chief minister and state BJP president B.S. Yeddyurappa, challenging the FIRs registered against him in connection with a denotification case. Meanwhile, Mr Yeddyurappa has filed another petition, challenging the second FIR filed in the matter related to alleged illegal denotification of land acquired for the Dr. K. Shivaram Karanth Layout in North Bengaluru.
